Paul is a young screenwriter who works on screening Homer's Odyssey directed by Fritz Lang. He was recruited by American producer Jeremy Prokosch to make Lang's screenplay because he wants a commercial rather than an artistic interpretation. Paul is married to Camille, who begs to doubt what he is neglecting while Prokosch tries to charm him. Fritz Lang interprets himself and Godard of his assistant.
